How to choose a good roll of electrical tape

First, let's examine the appearance of the tape roll. A good electrical tape should have a uniform color, a smooth cross-section, no bulging, and no glue overflow. Glue overflow indicates that the adhesive has aged, and wires wrapped with such tape will loosen and cause a serious short circuit after a short time.
Next, we can unroll the tape and feel the peel force and stickiness. Generally, the peel force should be moderate; too light, and it's difficult to wrap wires; too heavy, and it's difficult for workers to unroll and may deform the tape. The stickiness should be strong, but not excessively so. A rough rubber surface indicates poor adhesive quality, and the adhesive is prone to failure.
Finally, we stretch the tape to double its length and observe the whitening. If the color doesn't change or changes only slightly, it means the base material contains little or no filler. If the tape whitens significantly, the manufacturer has added a lot of filler to reduce costs, compromising the insulation performance.
Therefore, a good electrical tape has a smooth cross-section, moderate stickiness, and little or no whitening.
